AI assistants

Use ChopOps from your AI assistant

Ask about your food cost while you're on the line, or send a photo of an invoice when the delivery arrives. ChopOps connects to AI assistants such as Claude through MCP (Model Context Protocol), and answers with the same numbers you see in the app.

Things to ask

  • "What was my food cost last week?"
  • "Are we on target for prime cost this month?"
  • "What are we low on at Queen St?"
  • "Has chicken gone up in the last month?"
  • "Which invoices still need reviewing?"

Things to send

  • A photo or PDF of a supplier invoice: "Add this invoice to ChopOps."
  • ChopOps reads it and saves it as a draft. Nothing changes your costs or prices until you check it and press Confirm in ChopOps.

Connect in two minutes

You need a ChopOps account (the 14-day free trial works). The connector address is:

https://app.getchopops.com/api/mcp

Claude (claude.ai or the Claude app):

  1. Open Settings, then Connectors, and choose Add custom connector.
  2. Name it ChopOps and paste the address above. Leave the advanced settings empty.
  3. Click Connect, sign in to ChopOps, pick your restaurant and what the assistant may do, and press Connect.
  4. In a chat, make sure ChopOps is switched on under Connectors, then ask away.

Meta Muse: ChopOps has applied to the Muse connector directory. Once it's listed, find ChopOps in Muse's connectors and follow the same sign-in.

Other assistants: any assistant that supports remote MCP servers with OAuth sign-in can connect with the address above.

You stay in control

  • One restaurant at a time. When you connect, you pick which restaurant the assistant can use.
  • Questions only, or drafts too. Choose "Answer questions only" if you don't want the assistant adding anything.
  • Your role still applies. Staff accounts can only ask questions. Wages and labour cost are only shared for Owners and Managers.
  • Drafts, never final. Invoices from an assistant wait in review. They don't touch food cost or ingredient prices until someone confirms them.
  • Disconnect any time in ChopOps under Settings, AI assistants. Owners and Managers can see and disconnect any assistant connected to their restaurant.

Limits

  • 60 requests a minute per connected assistant. After that the assistant gets a "too many requests" reply (HTTP 429) and can try again a minute later.
  • 30 invoices an hour per connected assistant.
  • Invoice files up to 20 MB; up to 300 lines per invoice; up to 50 invoices per list.
  • Cost summaries cover up to a year at a time.

When something goes wrong

  • "Sign in to ChopOps to connect this assistant" or "Your ChopOps sign-in has expired": connect ChopOps again from your assistant.
  • "This assistant was disconnected from ChopOps": it was disconnected in Settings, AI assistants. If it's listed there under "Disconnected", press Reset, then connect again.
  • "You no longer have access to this restaurant": you were removed from the team. Ask the restaurant's account holder.
  • "Which location is this invoice for?" or "No location called …": name one of your locations in your request.
  • "Stock is counted per location": ask about one location. "No finished inventory count yet": finish a count in ChopOps first.
  • The invoice couldn't be read: open the link the assistant gives you to enter it by hand, or send a clearer photo.

Your data

The assistant sees only what you could see in ChopOps for the restaurant you picked, and only when it uses one of the actions above. Invoices it sends are stored like any other upload. What your assistant does with the answers is covered by that assistant's own privacy policy. See our Privacy Policy and Terms.
