Free tools / Delivery app profit

What do you really keep on a delivery app order?

Commission, extra packaging and promos add up fast. Compare an app order with the same order in your store, and find the app price that protects your profit.

These are example numbers. Replace them with yours.

1Your average order

What the same order costs at your counter
What it costs you to make
Your card processing rate

2Delivery app costs

From your app agreement
How much more you charge in the app. 0 if the same.
Bags, seals, sauce cups, per order
Average per order, e.g. BOGO or $ off

Why app orders earn less

The app takes a commission on the full order price, but your food cost stays the same. Add extra packaging and promos and your profit per order can drop by half.

How the app price is found

App price = (in-store profit + food cost + packaging + promos) ÷ (1 − commission). That’s the price where an app order earns what a counter order does.

You don’t have to match it

Many owners mark up part of the gap and accept a smaller profit for extra volume. The point is to choose that on purpose, with real numbers.
